Madagascar has been hit by a series of tropical storms that have caused widespread devastation. Cyclone Ana made landfall in the country late in January, and was quickly followed by cyclones Dumako and Batsirai. Now, Emnati is expected to hit soon.

At least 124 people have been killed so far, reports Al Jazeera. Thousands of people have been displaced, homes and infrastructure have been destroyed and many are searching for missing loved ones.

Humanitarian organisations such as the United Nations have stepped in to provide food and medicine.

‘When food markets are not working, there is not enough local food available, or victims cannot access markets, in-kind food assistance frequently is distributed,’ said Stephane Dujarric, the chief spokesman for the UN secretary-general, quoted by Weather.com.
